Electric Motor:

Asynchronous AC motors, 1.500 rpm with different powers depending on the Dyno model. For waork at low and high speeds continuously, they can have an independent blower. They are always driver controlled.

Transmission:

With timing belts, in 2 stages on the transportable models, and 1 stage on the production models. This type of belts combined with the use of lineal ball bearings, put almost all the power at the Dyno shaft, allowing it to work at very low and high speeds with greater shock loads.

Frequencies and Velocities:

In their general configuration, the Dyno’s are running from 0.1hz up to 6.0hz. With these frequencies, the shaft speed can go from .04″/sec (1mm/sec) up to 74″/sec (1880mm/sec).

Moving transformation system:

Scotch yooke (describes a perfect sinusoidal function). The mechanism has a frictionless no backlash mechanic solution, really useful for short strokes. For the durability tests models, we have an improved version of the known crank mechanism. For the stroke change: A double eccentric system allow a fast and step less stroke change, from 0″ to the maxium. The software recognizes the new stroke automatically.

Data acquisition system:

Of exclusive development, works combined with a YASKAWA AC Drive, the system is totally commanded by software.

Software:

Developed in C++, with all the usual windows functions (file, edition…) resulting in a powerful but friendly software. It can handle several tests simultaneously with a practical show/ no show command and different curve colors and traces making the results comparisons a really easy job. 18 different types of graphics and chart type information are available. A pass/ no pass curve analyzer and a production module are other available functions.

Motorized Traverse:

Allows to control the top traverse by software in order to easily install pressurized shocks; and perform static compression / extension tests to: springs, rubbers or any other kind of element, up to 3.300lb (1500kgf). Tests velocity can be configured from 0.15″/sec (4mm/sec) to 0.5″/sec (13mm/sec).

External command:

With this, the user can control the main machine functions without hacing a computer nearby.

Temperature Module:

Allows the user to control the beginning of the tests by the shocks temperature, and keep a record of the shock temperature during the test.

Automatic top clamping:

Pneumatic system that allows clamping the shock to the top traverse by only pressing a button. It has a fast change mechanism to adapt the system to mount shocks with eye configuration, to threaded stem. This system work with air pressure 80lb/in2 (5.5kgf/cm2).

Universal automatic body clamping:

Pneumatic system that allows clamping the body of the shock by only pressing a button. This system makes the body shock clamping task almost independent of the mounting configuration that the shock might have (stem, eye, McPherson bracket, …). This is very useful for testing shocks with different configuration of for example McPherson brackets, without doing a special device for each bracket. This system works with air pressure 80lb/in2 (5.5kgf/cm2).

Electrical Blower System:

An independent motor blower that works always at the correct speed. This allows using the machine at extreme speed during long periods of time. At low speed, the standard blower attached to the motor axis works too slow and does not provide the required cooling; and at high speed this standard blower consumes a very important part of the motor power because it is turning too fast from it’s original design.
